From the initial research made in Stretford at the beginning of the project, it became clear that the local community desired more green space, whilst also worried about the effect of Chester Road as a divider of the area.
Site Strategy: After Development

By removing this road and placing it underground, a large open park has been created. My building sits at the edge of this, allowing the café to become a meeting point for the local community after long walks or the various other activities which will occur in this new space.
A cycle path will run along the length of this park to allow people to travel easily around Stretford, without the noise and pollution of Chester Road.
