Initial Site Elevations created using collage.

The Big Draw involved the cutting out and collaging of precedents to help inform our programme. By this point, I had decided that I wanted my project to be a community run cafe, which incorporated housing to rehabilitate former rough sleepers. In doing this I hoped to create a unity between both Stretford and the local homeless population, such that both groups would be able to help each other. As such, I chose to look at community and grassroots projects that were initiated and run for the local population as my main precedents.

Shafts of light to provide the core of the building. This would help to distribute natural daylighting throughout the building.

Use of double skin facade to provide solar shading and privacy for the building's users.

Roof garden to grow food which can then be used in the cafe.

Using a bridge to connect two halfs of the building. Separation of two primary functions.

Connections to the Public Hall could be literal or more figuratuve?
