Observations from Massing Experimentation

Multifunctional spaces which allow for expansion to suit the needs of the resident. This would facilitate the formation of multi-person flats, with the merging of programmes.

Maintenance of cut through used by public. Addition of gardens will help to make this walk more pleasant .

Matching of elevation to surrounding context.

Bevelled edge softens corner between Chester Road and Dorset Street, as well as allowing greater light to be accessed by buildings further back into the site.

Multi-person occupancies to provide for people who require a higher level of support. Helps to create a sense of community which will aid the residents recovery.

Single apartment buildings offer greater independence when it is required. This will be the final stage in residents rehabilitation.

Community gardens help to improve the sustainability of the building whilst also providing an outlet for the residents.
