Developing External Form
Further to the idea of using structure to unify internal spaces, by breaking up this structure, I will make a more interesting and diverse building.
Shape of residential blocks encourages people to use it as a cut through, maximising resident contact with local community, and thus facilitating rehabilitation.
Access routes for café at front and rear to cater for people coming from all directions and maximise passing trade.
Again by rotating the residential blocks, the structure is subverted, whilst also accentuating existing access routes.
By breaking through the rigidity of this structure, my building's form begins to become more interesting.
Incremental Building Process
Expansion on the western elevation should interact with Stretford Public Hall. Perhaps resident run businesses could be used here, making use of existing road for passing trade.
This diagram shows how my façade could slide or be removed to allow for expansion of the building, to suit the user's needs.
