Precedents

Preparation for the Big Draw involved the finding of a series of relevant precedents in which to reference within my design. Through collage and SWAT analysis these precedents begin to form the basis for my programme.

Built Precedents

Cafe-Gallery Espai / MSB Estudi

  • Bar and cultural venue.

  • Use of bamboo to create shading and offer privacy.

Hub 67 // LYN Atelier

  • Double height community space.

  • Use of recycled materials from Olympics.

​

Manedorf Community Centre // SAM Architekten

  • Mixed use community performance space.

  • 1940s era buidling is updated using a new envelope.

​

Songpa Micro Housing // SsD

  • Small modular studio flats.

  • Encourages socialisation between tenets through use of the plan.

Landscape Precedents

Himmelbeet // Raumstar Architekten

  • Community garden project.

  • Pavillion to sell food from the garden, as well as hold public events.

Rio Arga Pedestrian Bridge // Peralta Ayesa

  • Bridge to connect two parts of the city.

  • Greenhouses to store equipment for nearby vegetable gardens.

​

Pine Walk // ESKIS Landscape Architects

  • Former car park, converted into a childs playground.

  • Creation of a central area for cultural events.

​

To Spin a Yard // Atelier Altern

  • Floating gardens for the growth of rare lettuce.

  • Can only be visted by boat.
